Amnesty International Chair - Public lecture Elizabeth Wathuti

Elk jaar reikt de Universiteit Gent de Amnesty International Leerstoel uit aan een persoon die een belangrijke bijdrage levert aan de mensenrechten wereldwijd. Elizabeth Wathuti is de laureaat in 2023. Ze wordt door de UGent gelauwerd voor haar vooraanstaande rol als milieu- en klimaatactivist. Wathuti geeft een publiekslezing tijdens de uitreiking van de Amnesty International Leerstoel op 21 maart 2023 (19u30) in de Theaterzaal van VIERNULVIER in Gent. Dit is een unieke kans om de bevlogen en internationaal geprezen activist live te horen spreken! 

Every year, Ghent University awards the Amnesty International Chair to an outstanding person who has made a significant contribution to human rights worldwide. Elizabeth Wathuti is the 2023 laureate. She is being honored by Ghent University for her prominent role as an environmental and climate activist. Wathuti will give a public lecture at the occasion of the award ceremony on 21 March 2023 in Arts Centre VIERNULVIER.

Today, more than ever, we face existential environmental challenges. But that's no reason for climate defeatism, according to Elizabeth Wathuti. She will explore how we can meet these challenges in her public lecture "Caring for the Earth, Caring for Ourselves: Planetary Health for a Sustainable Future". The event will be in English.
