Mario holds an international master’s degree in Marine Biological Resources (Ghent University). Since April 2021, he is a doctoral student at the Marine Biology Research Group at Ghent University. His doctoral research focuses on how to integrate sustainability education in marine sciences.

Alongside his research, Mario is an active member of the Marine Training team at UGent where he is involved in activities that promote education and training in marine sciences.
